Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis Evaluation Research Based on Vascular Wall Magnetic Resonance Imaging

چکیده
In recent years, the incidence of cardiovascular disease is increasing year by year in China, and ischemic cerebrovascular disease caused by atherosclerosis has become a key cause to disability and death. In this paper, a carotid atherosclerosis evaluation scheme based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was proposed. First, blood vessel wall MRI and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) were successively used to examine carotid artery, and then the results from the two examinations were compared. Experimental results show that the MRI-based carotid arteries atherosclerosis evaluation scheme has a higher accuracy than DSA in examination of carotid artery atherosclerosis

Vessel Wall Imaging of the Intracranial and Cervical Carotid Arteries
Vessel wall imaging can depict the morphologies of atherosclerotic plaques, arterial walls, and surrounding structures in the intracranial and cervical carotid arteries beyond the simple luminal changes that can be observed with traditional luminal evaluation. Differentiating vulnerable from stable plaques and characterizing atherosclerotic plaques are vital parts of the early diagnosis, preven...
متن کاملCardiovascular magnetic resonance in carotid atherosclerotic disease
Atherosclerosis is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory disease affecting many vascular beds. Disease progression leads to acute cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, stroke and death. The diseased carotid alone is responsible for one third of the 700,000 new or recurrent strokes occurring yearly in the United States. Imaging plays an important role in the management of atheroscl...
متن کاملEvaluation of Diameter Changes, Stress-strain Elastic Modulus and Stiffness in Normal and Atherosclerotic Common Carotid Arteries in Both Sex Based on End Pressure Variation
Evaluation of elastic properties of major arteries is subject of great interest with respect to the development of vascular diseases. In this study changes in diameter and cross-sectional area, stress-strain elastic modulus and stiffness of the common carotid arteries in healthy and atherosclerotic women and men were evaluated by using indirect end pressure changes. Variations in diameter and c...
متن کاملGray blood magnetic resonance for carotid wall imaging and visualization of deep-seated and superficial vascular calcifications.
White blood and black blood magnetic resonance imaging methods are often used for lumenography and visualization of the arterial wall, respectively. However, the use of white blood imaging invariably obscures arterial wall boundaries, and thus, impedes precise measurement of arterial wall area. Conversely, black blood imaging imposes strict limits on sequence timing to suppress the arterial lum...
متن کاملIs carotid intima-media thickness as predictive as other noninvasive techniques for the detection of coronary artery disease?
Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) measured by B-mode ultrasound is the most widely used noninvasive imaging method to assess atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk. CIMT has been consistently associated with coronary artery disease and stroke; however, recent meta-analyses and systematic reviews suggest that its clinical usefulness may be limited because the addition of CIMT to traditional...
